Introduce yourself.

I’m Angela, a clinic nurse. Most of my cousins and uncles are in the medical field but my sister was the one who really played a big part in my choice as a nurse. Growing up, I was exposed to injections, wound dressings, and assisting minor procedures like circumcisions.

What have you learned on your caregiving journey?

There’s always more to learn and I am still learning every single day. I’ll always try my best to put myself in other’s shoes. I’ve learned not to make judgements and refrain from assumptions. We all have met different kinds of patients. Whether it is their attitude, culture and background, we don’t know what they’re really going through.

Caregiving can be very challenging. What keeps you going?

When you receive patients, knowing that they’re grateful for your care and support. It makes my efforts worthwhile. Especially when I get to go through their journey of recovery with them and see them return home to their love ones.

What would you like to say to someone who might be going through a difficult time?

Keep going and be strong. Things will get better in the end. Just remember to look at the things you have overcome. You’ve got this!
