Our second story follows a man’s determination and positivity on his road to recovery.
Fred Loh was diagnosed with kidney and stomach tumors. After several months of complications due to his condition, Fred found our team online. He was then treated by our surgical expert Dr. Png and Dr. Tan. With his family in mind, Fred continues to fight and push through.
How was your experience with our FeM Surgery Team?
I stumbled upon FeM Surgery’s website after months of complications with other hospitals due to my condition. I was found to have kidney and stomach tumours. With my old age, my journey to recovery was rather difficult for me.
What caught my attention was the vision and mission of FeM Surgery, especially the emphasis on the relationship between the doctors and the patients. Unlike many other doctors I’ve met and hospitals I’ve gone to, FeM Surgery has provided the best intensive care.
Dr.Png and Dr. Tan thoroughly and patiently explained the side effects that I would be exposed to. I felt completely comfortable and clear about the process that I needed to go through – the management and communication was seamless. The team at FeM Surgery was also unselfish and patient-centered. They continue to see me not only as a patient but also as a person and more importantly, a friend.
What have you learned on your journey?
I now understand what complication really means. When you’re diagnosed with multiple sicknesses, you’ve got to stay optimistic. What helped me was that I found the most caring group of doctors whom I can count on. After going through this experience, looking at the process of recovering is no longer so daunting because I know that I am in good hands.
At the end of the day, health is so important and you can never put a price tag on it. I am a grandfather to two young kids and I want to see them grow. I am happy that I am able to do that.

What would you like to say to someone who might be going through a difficult time?
Chin up and smile! Accept the situation, fight it and be positive. I am aware that it is easier said than done, but that’s what kept me going.
